Eladio Diaz Before & After

About This Cigar:

The Eladio Diaz Before & After- Legado is one of the blends we were most excited to discover at this year’s Premium Cigar Association trade show. “Before & After” is the first core line to come from Eladio since his departure from over 30 years with Davidoff, and encompasses his time as a young tobacco roller to now having his own children become part of the family legacy in the cigar industry.

As Eladio’s blends have evolved and become more complex over time, it’s no surprise that this particular cigar features 7 different tobaccos in the blend. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Corojo, the binder a Dominican Habano 2000, and the Dominican fillers include Habano 2000, Piloto Cubano, Habano 92 and Broadleaf.

The Broadleaf in the filler has been aged 4-5 weeks in a 30 year old bourbon barrel, adding even more nuance, which we learned while talking with Eladio’s son, Hector at this year’s trade show.

We’ve found this to be a medium bodied blend, and one to be enjoyed when you can really pay attention to it.

About Eladio Diaz:

Having worked with tobacco since he was 6 years old, Eladio Diaz is one of the most respected Master Blenders in the world. As a key player working with Davidoff for over 30 years, Eladio was an integral part of creating so many of the famous Davidoff blends we’ve enjoyed for decades. Eladio also worked closely with our dear friend, Paul Garmirian, in creating his blends.

Eladio has now built his own factory, Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera, and is surrounded by his family in the business. His wife is the General Manager, and his three sons, Alexander, Emanuel and Hector all work side by side with their father in various aspects of the business.

Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera currently has 7 rollers. As Eladio says, “You don’t need a big kitchen to make a great cigar, just the right ingredients!”
