What makes the Paul Garmirian “PG” 20th Anniversary Symphony- Short Robusto special?

The Paul Garmirian “PG” 20th Anniversary Symphony- Short Robusto may be shorter in size but is full of flavor!

The 20th Anniversary blend, created with Henke Kelner and Eladio Diaz, met P.G.’s request for a more complex, robust blend than the Gourmet Series. Using four complex fillers and a Havana seed binder, the 20th Anniversary also features a very rich, dark wrapper that sets this series apart.

P.G. shared a particular piece of music with Henke and Eladio to convey what he hoped the blend would become, and from that symphony, this incredible blend was born.

What does our staff think of the Paul Garmirian “PG” 20th Anniversary Symphony- Short Robusto?

Bob Payne, Tobacconist at Georgetown Tobacco, team member since 2022

“Nicely placed between the Gourmet Series and the more full bodied 25th and 30th Anniversaries, the Symphony is a wonderful choice for midday or anytime you’re in the mood for something easy and smooth, but doesn’t compromise on flavor. I particularly favor the richness of the darker wrapper Dr. Garmirian uses for the Symphony.”

Who is the Paul Garmirian “PG” 20th Anniversary Symphony- Short Robusto best suited for?

Medium bodied cigars are approachable to everyone, regardless of experience. They offer more body, flavor and nuance than most mild cigars, and can pair with just about anything. One of the greatest attributes of enjoying cigars is the opportunity to experiment and find the blends that really resonate with you.

Consider these factors before selecting any cigar: What’s the occasion? Who will you be with? What kind of mood are you in? Have you eaten? What will you be drinking with the cigar? Putting some thought into those questions will guide you towards the blends that best complement that moment in time.

What can you tell me about Paul Garmirian “PG” Cigars?

Paul Garmirian wrote the book on cigars, literally. Published in 1990, The Gourmet Guide to Cigars is based on seven years of research, much of which was conducted here at Georgetown Tobacco. Soon after, we launched P.G.’s cigars in our store. Blended with Davidoff’s master blenders, Henke Kelner and Eladio Diaz, P.G.’s cigars are produced at the Davidoff Occidental cigar factory.

With an exceptional commitment to using only aged, quality tobacco and a further commitment to ensuring that his cigars are never on backorder, P.G. is the definition of a boutique cigar that withstands the test of time. You can now read the full story of P.G. in his memoir, The Road to Cigars.

Why does Georgetown Tobacco carry Paul Garmirian “PG” Cigars?

Georgetown Tobacco was proud to launch P.G.’s first line of cigars, the Gourmet Series, from our store back in 1990. FAQ: Frequently asked questions about the Paul Garmirian “PG” 20th Anniversary Symphony- Short Robusto

Yes! While we might often recommend people begin their cigar journey with a mild blend, medium-bodied cigars are also a great place to start. There are so many great cigars to try, and we encourage you to explore a variety of blends to discover what resonates with you the most.

We like to keep it simple. If you like the cigar and you like the beverage, they likely go well together. That said, there is both art and science to pairing beverages and cigars, and our team of tobacconists has pooled their collective knowledge to create this comprehensive pairing guide.

This is such a subjective and personal question to answer. What we can say is this: we think so, or we would not carry it. We carefully consider price along with many other factors before deciding what to bring into our humidors. While it may not fit every budget, we believe the character and construction of this blend will be appreciated by many of our customers.

Size and shape play key roles in how long you will enjoy your cigar. While factors such as pace, tobacco density, and environmental conditions can affect burn time, certain cigar shapes generally require more time than others. See our guide on how long cigars last based on common cigar shapes, so you can choose the right cigar for the amount of time you have to enjoy it.

Cigars are happiest in conditions that resemble the tropical regions where they were made: warm, humid, and consistent. For long-term storage, we recommend a quality cedar-lined humidor maintained at approximately 69 to 72 percent relative humidity and around 68 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep cigars away from direct sunlight and sudden temperature changes. With proper care, a well-maintained cigar will only improve with age.

Paul Garmirian 20th Anniversary Symphony

Covered with the greatest wrapper we have ever seen (dark, oily, and smooth) it is combined with four complex fillers and a Havana seed binder. PG and his son, Kevork, worked with Henke Kelner and Eladio Diaz from Tabadom on this special blend to commemorate a wonderful anniversary. Officially, the Symphony 20 Connoisseur was released in 2010. The final production in 2013 uses 2010 wrapper. The year of the wrapper interestingly provides subtle differences in strength.
