Step Into the Light..

Cigar Collection

It’s getting dark outside earlier now, but there’s an easy way to brighten your day by choosing a smooth, mild cigar. For people new to the joy of cigar smoking and experienced aficionados alike, these lighter blends invite us to slow down and appreciate their subtlety.

The assortment pictured above includes some of our favorites and they all have one thing in common: a Connecticut Shade wrapper.

In 1900, Cuban seed was introduced to the Connecticut River valley, located north of Hartford and extending into parts of Massachusetts. Grown under muslin or cheesecloth, this resulted in the silky, light tan or golden colored wrapper leaf we know today (Source: The Tobacconist Handbook by Jorge Armenteros).

Connecticut Shade wrappers are also now grown in Ecuador, where natural cloud cover provides ideal growing conditions for this leaf. These plants are more resistant to blue mold which has plagued several crops in the Connecticut River Valley over the years allowing more consistency for manufacturers like Davidoff who use them.

With something in every price range, you’re sure to find a new cigar to include in your humidor and share with your friends as we make the shift into longer nights and cooler weather!
